In 2016, when the poverty-relief cadre Wu Futang stepped on the mud and walked into Henghe Village, Tuoshi Town, Tianmen City, he couldn't believe his eyes. "It's the 21st century. This village doesn't even have a cement road."
Three years later, Henghe Village is another scene. On the morning of December 10, 2019, bathing in the warm sun in the winter, Zhang Xiangao, the secretary of the village branch, was walking on the newly-built concrete road. He was particularly pleased: "The roads in front of the eight villager groups in the village are all open."
Henghe Village is a deeply impoverished village. Among the 357 households in the whole village, there are 29 households and 88 people in poverty. The industry is completely blank.
Wu Futang is the leader of the poverty alleviation team of the Bank of China Tianmen Sub-branch and the first secretary of Henghe Village. According to his memory, when he first arrived in Henghe Village, the village-level roads were all mud roads, and there was a large pit every few meters away. The car could not pass at all, and only a hand-held tractor could barely go. In the process of visiting villages and households, the inconvenience of travel is the strongest problem reported by the masses. "Because the road was difficult to walk, relatives and friends almost broke up with us." Jia Shulan, a villager of the two groups, said.
Who doesn't want to build roads? The difficulty is the lack of money. After a rough calculation, the village-to-cun and Tong-Zhu highway is about 4.1 kilometers, with a total investment of more than one million yuan. Although road construction in poor villages is supported by poverty alleviation projects, there is still a large gap.
While leading the village cadres to the Transportation Bureau to run the project, the working team communicated with the leaders of the Bank of China Tianmen Sub-branch. Among them, the Bank of China Tianmen Sub-branch grants 30,000 yuan in support funds each year.
In August last year, the 1 to 3 groups of 0.9 km Tongzu Road took the lead in construction, and almost all the villagers came to watch.
Today, the winding roads through the village are like a silver link, struggling households. Chen Ailin, a villager in the third group, made a living selling fruit and other agricultural products. Since the cement road was repaired to his doorstep, he no longer has to worry about the product not being shipped out.
With the smooth road, the industry in Henghe Village has improved. With the help of the task force, 4 groups of poor households Tian Feng received 50,000 yuan interest-free loans and started to engage in beef cattle breeding. The cultivation of specialty vegetables increased to more than 300 acres.
